When I was growing up, I went through all kinds of phases. When I was around 11, I wanted to be a ballerina, a fashion designer who modelled her own clothes and a break dancer.
Then, course, I wanted to be a teacher when I was younger.
I also went through this phase, that my then best friend Kimberley was the Queen of the World and whatever she said was golden and had to be done. The phase of saying 'Whatever' stuck around for quite a bit. Embaressing as this is, the phase of being a total 'Karama G' lasted for about 9months. Yuck.
But amidst it all, there was this constant thing, that never left, and that was my natural love for rock music. It was always there lingering, and I don't know whether it was because I was always one of the boys when I was young or I just followed everything my elder brother did...to look cool.
Having said that, I listened to tons of different rock genres and only very recently, landed on some that I like. Hardcore/Emo/Screamo and Alternative.
The latter being my favourite, I love Paramore. And the former defines my love for The Used, two great bands you have to give a listen to.
So, something I hope is not a phase, is my love for this genre of music and wanting to be in a rock band, someday.
All of this sudden love, boils down to 'Marbles'. My boyfriend and his bestfriends have been wanting to form a band forever. Due to unfortunate circumstances, their drummer was unable to be with them permenantly. But these three continued...and today they played a small gig, that lasted for about ten minutes (thanks to technical problems!) that consisted of a lot of death metal (technical death metal as they'd like to show off) and screaming and undoubtedly one of the best BEST vocals I've heard in my life.
What is brilliant about this band (even the drummer who played for them!) is that they compliment each other, and they look, well beautiful (if that even remotely makes sense) together. Today hearing them, bunched up all my love for rock music and rocker people, overwhelming me entirely. p
I have a new genre I love today- Technical death metal - Marbles (working title). You should give them a listen sometime =)

metal music, to me, is like nails screeching across a chalkboard.
not to diss the genre .. but i need to clearly perceive a distinct melody in order to actually follow the music.
conversely, most people wouldn't be able to withstand classical music 24/7.
but hey, that's just me. =)
I am being forced to listen to that genre and its starting to make sense to me !!!
Also try mathcore... its interesting ! :-D
hehe. my bfs band :)
so i quite enjoy it...for those reasons mainly!
