Hello Im A Girl [Part 2]

Yesterday was Women's Day.

What is Women's Day?
It's like any other 'day' dedicated for a special cause, reason, person- like thanksgiving or St. Patrick's Day. Although, you can see that the other stuff is actually people who did some pretty great stuff, or a festival and tradition like Halloween and shizzle!
Why women's day?
To celebrate 'womanhood' (apparently). To keep one special day to remember that women are special, the success behind every man (...), foundations of etc. etc., to make families and houses homes mmm.... You get my drift.
Because women are awesome, and men didn't realize that at one point of time .. and women itself didn't realize their own potential. So when they finally came through, they dedicated this entire day in the year, to remind women that they are special and that they got through some hard times and that it's still a constant struggle ... and equality will come and all that.
It's a decent 'concept' if you look at it from far.

I just have one problem though. The concept of women's day is lost on me. And if you haven't read my blog before, then you must know that I am (...wait for it! ) a... (here's the REAL kicker) WOMAN (well, I'm a girl...I still think 20 is a girl...I have issues)! No really! I am!! No, I'm not lying!!!

Now that I've said that, let me be free to rant against this completely and utterly unnecessary waste of a day.
If women want to feel equal, why do they need a day all to themselves?
If women want to be equal, why are they treated specially? Why all the preference at work places and queues hmm? Why the 'F' is it ladies night (because we're unable to pay for our drinks? Because this a brilliant way to attract women to bars and tacky places... because something is for free?)
Why is there more preference to Mother's Day, than to Father's Day? Are you trying to say that mothers are more emotionally attached to kids, than a father is? Because a lot of father's would want to argue on that.

As a woman (yes, I really am one!) I feel like there is no need to dedicate an entire day trying to convince ourselves that we really are special and that we've come a long way. There is no need to say that we've achieved great obstacles in life. There is no need to have a pep talk, assuring ourselves that yes we are beautiful, yes we do have to follow our dreams... I think most of know that.
Successful women don't need constant reminding. The weak who have become strong, need a day to mark their achievements. I don't think we were weak to begin with. I think we were suppressed and we broke free.

And I don't need a special day, to celebrate with my fellow women, where we talk about how we are conquering the mens world. Ummm, to me, it wasn't a man's world to begin with. It was our world and we didn't know it then ...

I think we need an equality day, or a mens day ... or a how about no women's day?

[This post is not meant to offend any feminists. This is purely my own opinions and comments, and I stand by them 200%.]

Ps- However, I'd like to add, ladies night saves a lot of money.

Patriarchy is a norm in societies world wide. It's so common that people believe it to be the only way a nuclear family can exist. Statistics constantly show that in most families the father or eldest son provides for the family, while the women and children take care of household chores or are indulged in not so significant careers.

Woman's day in my opinion is a day to remind people of how patriarchy is a dominant ideology and it should be condescended to. Studies(unfortunately I don't have the time to provide sources, but google will help you if you're interested) have shown that men can look after newborn children just as well as women can and women can definitely be the bread earners in families. So all stereotypes of only the mother being able to look after the child can be falsified.
Certain days like Woman's day, particular cultural history days etc. have a positive aura about them.
So you can look at this in multiple perspectives.

Days that I personally criticize are religious holidays that feed off consumerism. And usually don't have a purpose behind them. (It's an opinion so you're allowed to disagree :) ).

Something related to this post, so I thought I'd post this. Been a while since I posted here.

THIS IS SO FREAKING RETARDED.

Reseachers are giving hormones to female fetuses to prevent "abnormal behavior" in women, including aggressiveness, interest in masculine jobs, lack of interest in children or being a house wife, and bisexuality/lesbianism.

P.S. Thanks for listening to our music. Become a fan and spread it amongst your friends. :)
