Define the word 'Geek', please?
You'll be surprised that 'Geek' has barely anything to do with the term 'Nerd', which is basically a term often associated with people who are very passionate about intellectual activities.
The two are often mistaken as substitutes for each other, and you'd think TV shows would know the difference, umm, but they don't.
On Sabrina the Teenage Witch today, they went on and on about 'Geeks' who were in the Science Club (or on, I forget!). Basically, they described geeks as those people with 'glasses, high waisted pants and very smart in nature who loved to bury their faces in books,'. Can you believe half an hour of complete nonsense? Don't get me wrong I LOVE the show, but it's completely not true.
Geeks are people with something peculiar about them, something strangely odd. Like a quirk, to collect stamps? I might be wrong but you get me right?
They are two separate things!
They went on for half an hour, about the same freaking thing.
Anyway... in conclusion, they're different. And also, geeks and nerds ARE NOT NECESSARILY dull, bad looking.
So much for the moral lesson at the end, eh?

lol i know i'm a geek (or at least, i was, in school ..) because of my general social ineptness ...
and i know i am (or was) a nerd because of my love to read things in encyclopedias rather than learn about them by falling asleep in class. =P
even if "geeks and nerds ARE NOT NECESSARILY dull, bad looking" .. what would that mean about a combined geek/nerd? (i.e. "neek" .. not "gerd" because Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease was something my brother had once =P)
Hahaha ...
Good Question.. but the answer still stands the same, no? Why is the moral lesson in TV serials and movies about geeks and nerds, always the same? i.e 'Its the inside that counts'...
Do they look 'that' bad? By default, if you are a nerd or geek, apparently, your inside matters more...
Pfft. It's bullshit ...
And you know you do not look like what they make you out to be =)
