For the longest time, I've wanted to get into media, print to be exact. That's what I want to do in my life...write for magazines and stuff...not newspapers, but more 'special feature' kind of stuff.
I need to stop saying stuff.
Anyway, about that dream of mine...yeah, most people might say that its achievable, because it's so me. I LOVE to write. Love would really be an understatement!
But I don't agree with people...I feel like one major thing can get in the way of my lifelong aspiration to become a well known writer, and that is my limited vocabulary.
I cannot use big words. And I'd like to learn them and be a better writer someday.
But you know what I don't want to learn?
Too many big words!
Where I'm just addicted to using them in every frigging sentence, when a simple word will do me justice and prove the point just as well.
What is it with big words, that make people feel they are high and mighty and better than everyone else? It's so BLA, really, don't you think?
Is it because I don't get it, when you use big words, so you go like 'OMG! You have no idea what I said!' and have a little ha-ha moment with yourself?
Or is it because you know so many words, that you JUST, just, have to USE THEM!
Either its addiction or just a lame attempt to look better than everyone else, but I don't get it.
Maybe cause my vocab is restricted...but I highly doubt thats it.

A Big word in a sentence makes a lot of difference. That is a fact. But then note that its just A big word rather than the whole sentence being a quiz. You dont want your audience to flip through a thesaurus and finally realize that your full of shit.
If you can make a point ... in a point, it would be at least considered worthy of someone's time rather than throwing a book at them.
Being simple is not everyone's pot of tea.
maybe people use lots of big words is because probably they dont get the time to do anything but chew up their dictionary and spit the pieces out on people. .
anyways. . good vocab is impressive. . but too much is just distracting and annoying !

i use big words occasionally, in friendly conversation .. it confuses the heck out of people, but pretty much everyone knows that's my style =P seeing as im usually confusing no matter how i speak lol

i can be quite clear when i need to though, even when using big words.
tip to build your vocabulary = play SCRABBLE! xD
