People usually look for a compromise or a reason for not to act. For example, my friend Stacey kept saying that will any action bring any change? Nothing would change. And all i could say was something Might change. Its like giving a cancer patient the option of Dieing anyways or fighting it with surgery with complications of dieing on the table. The factors of No change remain in both situation but in one of the situations there Could be some change. And when there is Some hope on one path, why not choose it rather than sit back and wait. Wait for someone else to act. Wait for someone else to do something for you..... - Ritesh, from the blog post called 'Trying'.
That above quote was regarding how Ritesh wants the Mahe Manipal, Media and Communications course to be conducted more seriously.
And I said it wasn't going to work, handing in a letter has been done before, but it's not going to work. Cause running a college isn't a piece of cake, so if YOU think handing in a letter is going to hold everyone's horses, and make them change the visiting faculty, all because YOU thought the course wasn't being conducted seriously, and your tribe agreed with you, then I think your living a lie.
Because:
1) Before you came and after you go, they're still going to be running a college that did quite well without you.
2) This isn't India...you can't hand in a letter or hold up a signboard saying you care... AT THE END of the semester, by the way.
3) At the end of the semester YOU realise that the course isnt serious? Where was this before? Or did YOU realise it sweetheart? Or did a teacher bring it to your attention and are you carrying out the duties, he wishes he could do without being fired.
4) Your facts aren't straight. We don't pay a 'little bit' different from AUS, we pay 28,000 per year...not semester. With books and transport, we're raised up by a fraction, AUS with books and LAPTOPS are raised up by a fortune. Yes, you went there, but you don't even get Mahe facts straight, so I doubt you really understand the accounts of AUS
5) If you attended EVERY CLASS, HANDED IN EVERY ASSIGNMENT ON TIME AND ATTENDED EVERY EXTRA LECTURE from day 1...then I'd buy EVERY INCH OF YOUR BLOGPOST on TRYING.... I think your just TRYING to prove a point.
6) Swaying off the topic, cancer patient and a media course? You really want to compare, rit?
Wait a while, see if you care after Summer, see if your super loyal to your course....
And then I will.
And if your letter does work, then I Still Win, right?
I <3 You.
Ps- You had said in an earlier argument that, because the course wasn't serious, you werent serious....
Your not a child.

Re:-
As easy as this might sound to you, or a lot of you'll, the seriousness of this course was an argument in my house for a long time. Just that i never had the nerve to go against the HOD without the support of a faculty. Lets say it this way, I got a backbone to my concerns.
The AUS and Mahe can obviously not be compared. In AUS you pay a lot more not only for their courses but for their recreation area's, their gym, their radio, their pools, their pool tables, their bowling center's, their top notch student centers and white faculty.
In mahe, you pay for a course. A core Course. 6 subjects a semester, Nothing more Nothing less.
"1) Before you came and after you go, they're still going to be running a college that did quite well without you."
But what about the other 30 students with me. What about them? do their voices count along with mine? Well it definitely will.
3) At the end of the semester YOU realise that the course isnt serious? Where was this before? Or did YOU realise it sweetheart? Or did a teacher bring it to your attention and are you carrying out the duties, he wishes he could do without being fired.
well not really. Once again you fail to confirm this with me. At the end of the first semester I had a row with our HOD as to how the semester was conducted. After which he came to the class and apologized on the way it was conducted and promised a much more well organised course. Did it happen? Not really. I might have given up the idea of going ahead with my concerns but then it was refueled by my professor.

Your asking me to be a Perfect student. Tell me Who is perfect. As far as i meet the minimum requirements to be a Clean student in their records, i think i have the right to demand for what i pay. I fulfill the requirements of the university, infact more than what the university asks for. Am i getting paid for it. I don't think so. Am i getting paid Back for it, Definitely NOT.
6) Swaying off the topic, cancer patient and a media course? You really want to compare, rit?
Its not swaying off. Its about choosing a path that has more hope or probability. That was the best possible example I could give.
Your main concern is that the idea of giving in a letter is not Truly mine. Well lets say Its not. I always had the thought of going back to the HOD and talking it out. He/she gave me the idea to take it to a whole new level.
and yes, this comes in at the end of the semester because the university has two months to rectify its course objective and process. I'm not asking for a studio and G5's all over the place.... I'm asking for a well organised course. Is that too much to ask for ??
stop arguing!!!!!
Yeah....
It is too much to ask for...
Because you JUST thought about it, JUST voiced it out AND JUST took action.
But my blessings be with you, I win either way :p
Wow, this is a lot..heh.
Okay, first things first.
Ritesh, you brought up the whole "We pay almost as much in MAHE than we would in AUS" thing, so, why the fuss now?
And I'm sure that even if you pitted the two colleges against each other and compared ONLY tuition fees, the fees of an AUS student would exceed that of a MAHE student by a substantial amount.
Secondly, at the END(again!) of the first semester you had a "row" with our HOD. As you say, he apologized, and promised a better course. In front of the WHOLE class, yes? And what happened then? NOTHING. I think that proves a point.
Thirdly, who's to say MAHE isn't meeting the "minimum requirement" that justifies a Dhs.28,000 fee? Doesn't that justify how their course is conducted? Just as long as they meet some level that justifies their fee?
And, No, you can't compare someone dying to someone getting an okay education. If that was the best example you could come up with, then maybe you shouldn't have used one. Because, to me, it looks like you're moving away from the topic for dramatic effect.
Also, this did NOT come in at the end of the semester BECAUSE the university has two months to rectify it. That's just coincidental; and you know it.
:p
HA HA HA.
You are right, Presley does save my ass everytime... and it's annoying to you.
But,
He saves it pretty well, so I can see how it's annoying, bebe!!
Pwnt! =D
lol interesting argument .. :-P
nothing compared to the one i had on Jeann's blog lol with some anonymous guy/girl/thing =P
i was bored lol.
dont you guys just looove arguing :P
Okay i Shouldn't have used the cancer patients example.
but well .... is trying just a little more, going up further in the hierarchy chart, moving higher with our complaints like from the high court to the supreme court that bad a thing?
i mean all i've asked for is a Well Organized Course... do i really have to justify Why and How and Who planted the thought in my head?
And whats funny is, its not about the facilities atall, its just about a well organised course by committed professors! ..
ah well....
Hope fully the letter with the bad grammar works :-P
